We are deeply saddened to have to announce the death of the founder of FRED Theatre, Robert Ball.
Robert started FRED in 2012 and since then has been its guiding light and principal director. The company has produced nearly thirty shows, most of them directed by Robert.
Robert’s love of theatre and education through theatre, led him to create FRED, and in recent years the company has developed a specialism in presenting accessible versions of Shakespeare for schools.
Robert was often very moved by the feedback he got from those school’s performances, and the knowledge that he had helped to pass his love for Shakespeare on to another generation.
It is unlikely that FRED will continue without Robert since it was very much his company but a full announcement will be made in due course.
