Fred is committed to supporting schools in as many ways as it possibly can.

Roughly half of Fred’s productions each year are suitable for audiences of all ages. We aim to produce at least one show a year that is developed specifically with schools in mind. So far this has focussed on Shakespeare (The Merchant of Venice, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth), but looking ahead we are aiming to broaden this field.

For schools Fred offers special educational discounts to groups wanting to attend public performances. We also make sure there are plenty of conveniently timed matinees. Members of the cast and crew are usually available, with advance notice, to meet and talk to school parties after public performances.

From 2017 Fred is also offering schools the opportunity to book a visiting performance. We can bring a slightly less technical version of the current production to your school where we will present a pop-up performance. We can also offer an additional workshop for students, after the performance, which examines themes in the play and our production. An excellent introduction to the play in hand, often more convenient, and always nearly more cost-effective.

Our schools’ productions take care not to preach any particular philosophy, but they do contain a lot of material that will stimulate debate and encourage younger minds to question.
